Vietnamese automakers posted brilliant sales in July

Lesedauer: min

China Post reported that Taiwan automakers posted brilliant sales in July, with one of them, Hotai Motor, reporting sales of 35,700 new cars in the month.

Analysts attributed the sales rise to heavy promotional campaigns launched by local carmakers, in the lead up to the Ghost Month.

Taiwanese people observe Ghost Month during the seventh month of the Lunar Calendar to September 7th 2010. The period augurs bad luck, and people usually refrain from doing propitious things such as getting married, buying new homes or cars, or moving.

And it seems the automakers' strategy has worked, as most of them posted good results for July. Hotai Motor, which distributes Toyota branded autos in Taiwan, sold 35,700 new cars in the month, a 25% increase from June and 24.1% jump from the same period last year.

Yulon Motors, the distributor in Taiwan of Nissan branded vehicles, meanwhile posted sales of TWD 3.394 billion in July, a two and half year high and a 91.15% increase from July 2009.

Analysts have predicted carmakers will do better this year than 2009, forecasting that they will sell a total of 315,000 new vehicles this year, an increase of 7% from last year.
