Itar-Tass reported that Starting from Tuesday Russia Avtovaz car manufacturer returns to a full time working week abolished three months ago in order to avoid sackings.

According to the report, within that period of time staffers of the car giant worked five days a week in one eight hour shift. Those engaged in the production of the Lada Priora car make often worked Saturdays.

The regime of a part time working week was introduced for the period of six months and envisaged a 20 hour workweek while workers received salaries only for the hours worked. This was done in order to avoid sackings and in connection with a need for to cut production expenditures.

At the initiative of the plant trade union committee, a session of the company board made a decision to lift the regime already starting from December 1st in order to maintain workers’ earnings at a reasonable level.
