A significant chapter in the history of the JOEST group, a global leader in vibration technology and mechanical engineering, was opened on May 22, 2024, in a ceremonial event. Dr. Hans Moormann, who has successfully led the company as Managing Partner for over 25 years, passed the reins to the next generation. His son, Alexander Moormann, will now step into his shoes and take over the management of the renowned family business alongside the long-standing Managing Partner, Dr. Marcus Wirtz.

The handover ceremony took place in a festive setting at the JOEST group headquarters in Buldern. As a special guest, the Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hendrik Wüst, moderated the ceremony and acknowledged the outstanding entrepreneurial achievements of the Moormann family and the importance of the JOEST group to the region and the mechanical engineering industry.

Also present as a special guest was Arndt G. Kirchhoff, President of the Federation of Business Associations of North Rhine-Westphalia.

“We plan in generations, not in years or quarters. […] The family-run medium-sized business sector represents Germany’s business model, as we prove to be exceptionally crisis-resistant on average, thus contributing significantly to the stability in our country,” emphasized Mr. Kirchhoff. With Dr. Moormann, we have an entrepreneur who has not only proven his entrepreneurial skills, but who is also extremely committed to politics and voluntary work, continued Mr. Kirchhoff.

Dr. Hans Moormann has developed the JOEST group into a global player over the past decades, known for innovation, quality, and reliability. Under his leadership, the company has continuously expanded and established itself as a market leader in many areas of vibration technology. In his farewell speech, Dr. Hans Moormann emphasized the importance of tradition and innovation for the long-term success of the company.

Alexander Moormann spent the last two years with his family in Australia, working there as Executive Director for the largest subsidiary of the JOEST group.

“This time was an incredibly enriching experience both professionally and personally,” says Moormann. He particularly looks forward to further collaboration with Dr. Wirtz, also Managing Partner. “We will not only keep the ship on course but expand our global lead.” Moormann adds.

Minister-President Hendrik Wüst highlighted the important role that medium-sized family businesses like the JOEST group play for the economy in North Rhine-Westphalia and beyond. “JOEST is a strong company, the Moormann family is a strong entrepreneurial family, and thus they are exemplary of the strong medium-sized business sector that has made us so successful in Germany.”

With the generational change, the company is optimistic about the future and continues to focus on growth and innovation.
