GER - Rheinmetall strengthens presence in Scandinavia: new office in Stockholm

Reading time: min

Rheinmetall Defence has opened a representative office in Stockholm, thus completing another step in its internationalization and consistent expansion of its position in key markets. The Düsseldorf, Germany based company operates at locations and branches in numerous European countries, the US, Canada, the United Arab Emirates as well as in South Africa, Asia, and Australia.

This new branch office in Stockholm strengthens Rheinmetall's market presence in Sweden and neighboring Scandinavian countries, thus taking account of the armed forces there as important partners of the NATO community.

Rheinmetall has long been successful in many areas on the Scandinavian market. The Finnish armed forces have been using Rheinmetall's ASRAD air defense system since 2006. In summer 2010, Rheinmetall also took over Norwegian company Simrad Optronics ASA and around 200 employees at its locations in Nøtterøy and Oslo. As part of Rheinmetall's Electro-Optics division, the company is now one of the world's leading providers of electro-optical components for military and civilian security forces.

Rheinmetall is currently producing and recently began delivery of ultra-modern Kodiak armoured engineering vehicles (AEV) for the Swedish armed forces. The total value of this 2008 order is just under €50 million. Another current order to equip Swedish ARV 120 armored recovery vehicles with a comprehensive protective package and various additional upgrade measures underlines the important market position that Rheinmetall already has in Sweden and its Scandinavian neighbors.

Gunnar Andersson at the Rheinmetall branch office in Stockholm is an expert contact partner to ensure "one-stop customer support" for the entire range of Rheinmetall's business areas and also to simplify the processes for existing and future cooperations and investment projects.
